Study: Tango Helps in the Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease

People suffering from Parkinson ’s disease will certainly be surprised to hear that there is a new and entertaining method that can ease the consequences of this disease which doesn’t require taking additional drugs.

The interesting treatment comes in the form of tango – a partner dance that dates back from the 19th century. This dance can help Parkinson’s disease sufferers to ease both physical and mental difficulties caused by this vicious disease in the same way it helps patients diagnosed with depression.

This is a claim made by a Canadian scientist from the McGill University Health Center in Montreal. They have conducted a study on about 40 men and women who are suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

The patients were dancing together with professional dancers and tango instructors while doctors specialized in this area of medicine were monitoring the results. The final results were really interesting.

After 3 months of practicing this tango therapy, all the patients have experienced big progress – they were able to improve their balance, movement and motor skills and they have even increased their self-confidence. Doctors have also noticed that almost all patients using this unorthodox Parkinson’s disease treatment were able to alleviate depression and the state of chronic fatigue.
